Awards Program Application Form

The Folklorama Cultural Preservation (CP) Fund is a permanent endowment fund established at The Winnipeg Foundation.  The CP Fund Awards Program provides Folklorama members the opportunity to apply for funds that grow youth initiatives for ongoing or new projects that celebrate, educate, promote, and preserve culture for years to come.

Some examples of projects that can be supported by the CP Fund Awards Program are:

  • Ethno-cultural dance, vocal, and other artistic instruction for youth;
  • Teaching youth their cultural language through an established program;
  • Programs that teach youth to preserve traditional cultural foods and recipes;
  • Training for succession planning in cultural community organizations (IE: Governance, logistical planning, volunteer management, etc.);
  • Education programs for youth (IE: Summer camps, workshops, information sessions, etc.) that focus on learned experiences of ethno-cultural diversity;
  • Costs associated for youth to travel to national and international festivals and competitions directly related to preservation of culture.
The CP Fund Awards Jury will review all applications in early 2026 and decide on award recipients.

Requirements for Applying:

  • Applicants must be a current Folklorama member or a member of a member organization of Folklorama in good standing.  An active membership must have been maintained for one (1) year minimum in order to apply.
  • Applicants must be under 25 years of age or the application must be made on behalf of a member(s) under 25 years of age who will directly benefit from this funding.
    Applicants may not be a member of the CP Fund Awards Selection Jury, Board of Directors, or Folklorama staff, and may not have an actual or perceived conflict of interest to any of these (IE: Family member of the aforementioned.)
